IN COMPETITION
London (Wazzup)- The FB COTY bikes in competition now with comments by John "The Chopfather" Brain. Just like some years ago with the BBO vs COTY online competition J Brain will comment the entries. Building is good.
Amsterdam (Wazzup)- The Dome garden redone...all the old crapy wood is gone and ready for it's first try out before the Dome will host the day part of the FBI saturday with COTY and racing.
The FBI HQ organized the COTY in those years, but the COTY was always at the end of the year. These one day events were known as "Bikes behind the Dikes", held at Bikemotion and later at the Chopperdome. Yes, in those early years all the shop bikes were moved to give space to the COTY.
The FBI summer meeting became more and more international in 2004-2005 and with the first international entries at the COTY in 2005 we decided to have the COTY as part of the FBI meeting to give a platform to the builders from around the world.
At the 2006 FBI saw a big international crowd again and a lot of international entries. The first five COTY years had been a purely Dutch dominated competition, with mainly Dutch entries, hence Dutch winners. But that was about to change as the first prize in 2006 was taken by Sami from Finland. Out scoring the others by just a few points to become the 2006 FBI COTY worldchampion. In 2007 the crown was Dutch again when Marcel took first prize by a mile with the highest point average at the modern COTY ever. When Ari took first prize in 2008 the world title was Finnish again.
Alessandro in 2009 did at his first FBI what he hoped for and put Italy on the map. William from France showed that the French, who claimed 2nd and 5th place in 2008, are a true nation of builders taking last year COTY title.
What's to come in 2011?

Detroit (Brain)- Don and Deb VanCleave once again hosted Michigan’s premier kustom bicycle event - a show that attracts many thousands of visitors every year. And no wonder, as the quality and variety of bikes continues to increase with every new exhibition. On hand were a variety of styles and designs; from 3 and 4 wheeled creations to wild choppers made by Hannan Customs from Montreal Canada. Also catching on strong at the show was a trend towards hot-rod and boardtrack style vintage cruisers; and, not to be outdone were examples of classic muscle bikes, and restored balloon tire bikes from yesteryear.

A special award presentation was presented this year in memory of the late Jeff Chapp, who will be remembered as one of Michigan’s all time greatest - and innovative - kustom bicycle fabricators.
The proud recipient of this year’s “Jeff Chapp Memorial Award” was Don Whitt, a well known local enthusiast who specializes in kustom machines which are noted for their unusual designs; as well as non-traditional construction materials.
A big congratulation goes out to Don for being this year’s recipient of the award.
